Cyntwell is an 18th Century cottage situated in a conservation area. Because of this we are unable to alter some aspects of the house and feel that the house has inadequate facilities to accommodate those with severe disabilities. Please read our access statement for a more detailed description of the house.
The minimum stay is usually two nights but we can sometimes accommodate single night bookings. Over the Bank Holidays and the “May Day” and “Christmas” Festivals we require a minimum three night stay.
We are sorry but we do not accept pets. However I do look after a family members dogs occasionally so Cyntwell may not be suitable if you have a pet allergy.
The single occupancy rate is £10.00 off the double room rate.
We are sorry but we do not accept children, Adults only over 18. The maximum number of persons to stay in each room is two.
We do not serve breakfast here but we are centrally located and there are numerous places to have breakfast within a short walking distance.
Unfortunately we have no private parking at Cyntwell. Details regarding parking can be found on the website under the heading “map, directions and parking”.
How to make a Booking
We have an online availability and booking facility which enables you to reserve a room.
A deposit is required to reserve a room and we can debit this from a credit/debit card (sorry we do not accept American Express) sorry but we do not accept cheques. The deposit will be equivalent to 50% of the total cost of your booking or 100% for single night bookings. Your card details will be held to secure your booking. By making your booking, our agreement is a legal contract and your deposit is non-refundable/transferable. Final payment will be due during your stay.
nb** For holiday companies and overseas visitors the total cost of holiday is due at the time of booking.
If you cancel your booking less than 30 days before your arrival, you are still liable to pay for the booking in full, (this also applies to early departure). We would debit this amount from your credit/debit card. For this reason we strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, this is inexpensive and offers peace of mind.
if the booking is cancelled 30 or more days before arrival then a charge equivalent to the first night of the stay will be made.
Arrival and Departure
Rooms are available on the day of arrival from 2.30 pm (this time also applies in regards to dropping off luggage) onwards and the latest arrival time is 8.00 pm.
Rooms must be vacated on the day of departure by 11.00 am.
Non-availability of Accommodation
We would only cancel your holiday if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would however attempt to offer you alternative accommodation. If this was not possible or acceptable to you then we would refund all monies paid by you for the holiday. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.
Damages and Breakages
Please take care when staying in our property. You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages, which you cause, to the accommodation or its contents. All we ask is that you report any incidents as they occur. We do not normally charge for minor breakages but we may charge you if the damage or breakage is significant. This also applies to stains on the carpet or bedding that may have to be cleaned professionally.
Please do not bring or eat any take away food in the rooms
We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.
Smoking is not allowed in the rooms at cyntwell
Our Special Midweek Winter Breaks offer is 3 nights for the price of 2 throughout November, December and January.
This offer is only available by booking direct with us via our website or over the phone. Excludes weekends, The Christmas Festival and Christmas/New Year.
